Woodland Park

The Junior League of Pelham (JLP) is elated to announce that installation of the new Woodland Park Playground will officially begin on Monday, May 5th, 2025, marking the start of a transformational project to modernize and expand one of Pelham’s most cherished community spaces.

To ensure a safe and efficient construction process, Woodland Park will be closed to the public for approximately two weeks starting May 5th. We thank the community for its patience during this exciting & crucial first phase of progress.

This milestone represents the first step of a multi-stage initiative to enhance accessibility (ADA compliance), safety and sustainability at Woodland Park. Initial work will focus on foundational elements, including updated and inclusive play structures that serve children of all ages and abilities.

As outlined in a public presentation to the Village Board this March, the full project will continue through the summer and fall of 2025. Future phases will include eco-friendly features, native plantings, shaded seating areas, and new equipment designed to foster an open and environmentally conscious play space.

“We are so happy to finally bring this project to life,” said Amanda Star, Co-President of the Junior League of Pelham. “This installation reflects our deep commitment to Pelham and our mission to invest in meaningful, lasting improvements that benefit the entire community.”

The Junior League of Pelham is leading the initiative in collaboration with the Village of Pelham, with invaluable input from local families and community stakeholders. The revitalized playground will stand as a testament to the power of community-driven change and the importance of safe, inclusive, and beautiful public spaces.

“I’m incredibly grateful to the Junior League for their generosity, creativity and hands-on commitment to our community,” stated Chance Mullen, Mayor of the Village of Pelham. “Their work to upgrade Woodland Playground will bring joy to countless children and families, and it’s a perfect example of the power of volunteerism to make a lasting impact.”
