🍎 FOOD SCRAP RECYCLING

Residents of the Village of Pelham and Pelham Manor can participate in a food scrap recycling program (produce, animal products, grains, paper) to reduce waste send to landfills or incinerated. 

• Purchase a starter kit ($21) or use recyclable paper bags
• Collect and recycle accepted food scraps into the large green toters in the back northwest corner of  VOP Municipal Parking Lot 7 (behind Rockwell’s)

♻️ PLASTIC RECYCLING

Target (Mount Vernon) offers free in-store recycling for:

• Plastic film, including high and low density such as plastic bags and bubble wrap
• Bottle and can recycling (aluminum, glass and plastic beverage containers)
• Small device electronics recycling (MP3 players, GPS devices and ink cartridges)

💻 ELECTRONICS RECYCLING

Staples (Mount Vernon) offers free in-store recycling for:

• Office Supplies: Ink/toner, pens, markers, and pencils
• Tech: Computers, printers, scanners, game consoles, phones, cases, headphones
• Miscellaneous: Batteries (all types), luggage, and bags

⚠️ SPECIAL & HAZARDOUS WASTE

Westchester County H-MRF (15 Woods Road, Valhalla, NY.) accepts items that cannot go in curbside pickup. 

• Appointment only (Tues–Sat, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) and proof of residency required. Call the Recycling HelpLine at (914) 813-5425 or book online.
• Accepted Items:
  

• Hazardous Chemicals: Pesticides, pool chemicals, wood stains, and flammable liquids.
• Electronics & Appliances: Computers, TVs, Freon-containing appliances (ACs/fridges).
• Automotive: Tires (up to 4) and automotive fluids like antifreeze or gasoline.
• Other: Fire extinguishers, propane tanks, and mercury thermometers.
• Shredding: Confidential documents (limit: 4 file boxes per visit)
